Pierwszy dzien wyprawy zaliczony. Po nocnej ulewie poranek przywital mnie tylko leciutka mzawka. Czwarta rano to jednak bardzo wczesnie jak na moje standardy. Na szczescie nie bylo duzo do pakowania, pozostalo jedynie przymocowac kufry do motocykla, pozegnac sie z rodzina i w droge. Moja dlugo wyczekiwana podroz na Balkany zaczela sie o 4:40.
M25 o tej porze w sobote dosyc pusta, z rzadka mijalem pojedyncze ciezarowki zmierzajace w strone Folkestone i Dover. Podobnie bylo na M26 i M20. Do Dover dotarlem po 6-tej, jeszcze tylko ostatnie tankowanie na brytyjskiej ziemi i juz ustawialem sie w kolejce do wjazdu na prom, ktory odplywal o 8:00. Za mna kilku motocyklistow brytyjskich zmierzajacych w rozne krance Europy.
Zza chmur zaczelo wygladac slonce ale mimo to wciaz bylo dosyc chlodno wiec z radoscia powitalem pozwolenie wjazdu na poklad promu. Po przymocowaniu motocykla do pokladu mocnymi tasmami, udalem sie na gorny poklad,gdzie mialem wykupiona miejscowke. Mialem nadzieje zlapac jeszcze kilka minut snu zanim prom doplynie do Dunkierki. Plan powiodl sie znakomicie. Po dotarciu do Francji zjezdzalem z promu wypoczety jakbym wlasnie wstal z lozka.
GPS sprawial sie znakomicie ani razu nie gubiac drogi. Z gory zakladalem szybki przejazd pierwszego odcinka wyprawy, tak wiec moja droga prowadzila platnymi odcinkami francuskich autostrad A26 i A4.
Krajobraz, z poczatku dosyc monotonny, jakies 100 km za Reims zmienil sie w lagodne wzniesienia i zielone lasy. Po drodze dosyc czesto zatrzymywalem sie na 10-15 minut gdyz chwilami nudna jazda autostrada powodowala narastajaca sennosc. Motocykl spisuje sie znakomicie, zuzycie paliwa bardzo obiecujace - komputer pokladowy pokazuje ponad 500km na jednym tankowaniu - rewelacja !
Do kempingu w malutkiej miejscowosci Jaulny dotarlem kwadrans po 17-tej.
Podsumowanie pierwszego odcinka :
- przejechane : 608 km
- koszty paliwa : 45 euro
- inne koszty : 24 euro (jedzenie i oplata za kemping)
Jutro pogoda zapowiada sie znosnie - raczej nie bedzie padac. Przede mna Vogezy we Francuskiej Alzacji i Zurich w Szwajcarii.

First day of my trip checked out. After a night shower, the morning welcomed me with a drizzle. 4 am - that's a lot too early for me. Fortunately, there was not much more to pack and so I just mounted the panniers on the bike, said goodbye to my family and I was on my way. My eagerly awaited trip to the Balkans started at 4:40 am.
M25 was rather empty at this time of Saturday, I was only passing single lorries on their way to Folkerstone and Dover every now and then. Same thing on M26 and M20. I reached Dover just after 6 am, filled the bike up quickly for the last time on the British soil and next thing I knew I was waiting in line to board the ferry. Behind me a few British bikers on their way to various places all over Europe.
It was still a bit chilly even with the sun shyly peeking through the clouds so I happily welcomed the order to board the ferry. After securing the bike to the deck I went upstairs to have a quick nap in the lounge. This was a real blessing as I woke up refreshed and ready for the challenge ahead.
My Gps unit worked perfectly without missing a beat even once. As I planned the first stint to be relatively quick I used the paid stretches of the French A26 and A4 motorways. At the beginning the landscape was quite boring but after I passed Reims it changed into rolling hills and green forest areas. I made frequent stops of 10 to 15 minutes as the long, boring stretches of the motorway were making me sleepy. The bike is a gem, it runs smoothly and the petrol consumption is really low - I managed around 50 mpg. I reached the camp site in a tiny village of Jaulny quarter past 5 pm.
Summary of the first day :
- miles covered : 380
- petrol cost : 45 euro
- other cost : 24 euro (food and the camp site fee).
Tomorrow's weather looks promising - it should not be raining. Before me lay Vosges area of French Alsace and Zurich in Switzerland.
